Creating and introducing a brand new concept that revolutionises a market, or even creates its own market space, is becoming increasingly difficult. The level of innovation required is continuously growing, and the barriers to entry can be near impossible, particularly in certain oligopolies and monopolies.
As a result, many brands seek ‘inspiration’ from existing and already successful business models. We’ve seen this as recently as last year, with Instagram launching their Story feature, which was remarkably similar to Snapchat’s model, but it has been going on in various industries for many years now.
